Inhale & Extend with Dockside & Friends of The Gym

July 4 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

On July 4th, Dockside and Friends of The Gym in Ballard are partnering to bring you Inhale & Extend — a chill post-Pride gathering with movement workshops, tarot card readings, slushees, swag, and good times. This is a 21+ consumption-friendly (BYOC) event to connect with our neighbors. Come unwind and still be gay after June.

Friends of The Gym is a trans and queer-owned community gym in Ballard that creates a safe, affirming space for queer, trans, and marginalized people to move, connect, and feel strong. A series of movement sessions will be offered from 10 am- 3 pm for $20/session (suggested donation). The ticket price covers the trainers’ fees and supports the gym so it can have a long-term future.

Please RSVP here & don’t forget to use your discount to pick up some weed to consume before (or at) the event! Must be 21+ with valid ID to attend.

Event Schedule:

10:30 – 11:00 Roots & Relief (Foot Care) with Olli Lockwald

Get more rooted in your connection to the ground. In this class, we’ll go over the potential our feet have, and how to help restore more natural functions of the foot. Be prepared to take socks and shoes off! We’ll be stretching and wiggling out our toes as we learn how to use and care for them.

11:15-11:45 Jays & Joints (Movement Flow) with Benni Pool

This class is an opportunity to find a flow with your movement. We will focus on mobilizing the major joints and then strengthening them. Move at your own pace in an inclusive body-affirming space. Wear clothing that allows you to move comfortably and remember to bring a water bottle.

12:30-1:15 Toke & Twist with Sky

In this class we’ll use somatic practices involving stance, movement, and gesture to return to the body in the here and now. Wear comfortable, breathable clothing and bring a water bottle.

1:30-2:15 Soma Sessions with kmo stevens

Come twist out and unwind some tension in this gentle yoga flow. This class offers a welcoming space to connect, breathe, and move. Wear comfortable, breathable clothing and bring a water bottle. Yoga mats and props are available in the studio, but feel free to bring your own if you prefer.

2:30-3:00 Cultivating Calm (Reiki with Meditation) with Danny Lugas

Experience the restorative power of Reiki in a supportive group setting. This gentle, hands-off energy healing practice is designed to promote deep relaxation, reduce stress, and support your body’s natural ability to heal and restore balance. There will be incense; please be aware if you are smell-sensitive.

11:00 – 2:00  Bootblacking with Kittn (30-minute 1:1 slots)

Leathercare from Kittn Bootblack, WA State Bootblack 2024. Kittn will talk about bootblacking and the leather community while tending to your gear.

12:00-3:00 Tarot Readings with Ally Parks (30-minute 1:1 slots)

You’ll have a brief check-in with Ally, our Tarot reader, who will set a container for the reading by intentionally shuffling your cards while connecting to your energy. When you are ready with your question, you’ll be handed the cards to briefly shuffle and cut or divide the deck whilst focusing on your question. The Tarot deck will be handed back to Ally, and 12 cards will be dealt, forming a Celtic Cross spread. Ally will interpret the cards’ messages and meanings, giving you time to express anything you feel is necessary or relevant.
