Website Accessibility

Just like our brick and mortar stores, Dockside Cannabis is dedicated to making our website accessible to all users. Our main website and menus may be viewed on a variety of devices including laptops, tablets and web-enabled mobile.

We are actively working to increase accessibility and useability of our existing website pages and content. In doing so, we make our best efforts to adhere to requirements outlined in the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). We follow Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) to ensure any of the updates, or new things we add to our website are technically and functionally usable by everyone.

What we have done:

  • Worked with our menu provider to ensure the area that receives over half of our traffic was put at the top of the list for accessibility enhancements
  • Currently our menus are scoring 98/100 on Google’s accessibility tool, Lighthouse
  • Developed accessible buttons/links throughout the online store
  • All menu items have full alt-text propagation

What we will continue to do:

  • Continue to scrub and improve the remaining portion of our website to update per WCAG guidelines, such as increasing font size, color contrast and adding alt-text descriptors
  • Currently undergoing efforts to give all pages present on the site clear and descriptive HTML page titles to help users quickly understand a web page’s content
  • Check in with our two web partners (developer and menu provider) on a quarterly basis to ensure we are as up-to-date as possible
  • Any new rollouts will be in keeping with WCAG guidelines

End of Q1 2022 goals:

  • Implement a third-party overlay to increase accessibility overall (such as We are testing it by the end of Q4 2021 and plan to roll it in 2022 provided it meets expectations
