New Year’s Eve Cannabis-Infused Mocktails

Planning to meet the new year in Seattle with a toast? Hit the ground running hangover-free on January first with the aide of these cannabis-infused, booze-less cocktails! You don’t have to feel like you’re missing out if your new year’s resolution is to consume less alcohol. These alternative beverages are just as delicious enjoyed year-round.  But, just remember to sip these cannabinoid laden cocktails slowly, and give them about an hour to take full effect.

Major Moscow Mule (about 10mg THC per 6 oz drink)
Simple, refreshing, and delicious. Fancy schmancy copper mugs not required.

  • 100mg Major Pink Lemonade – 10 servings per bottle ($15)
  • Reed’s Extra Ginger Ale
  • Lime-ade
  • Fresh Mint
  • Lime wedges

To make your Major Moscow Mules:

  1. At the bottom of your glass, add a few mint leaves and use a muddler (the handle of a wooden spoon would work well, too) to bruise the mint leaves.
  2. Add 1 ¼ tbsp Major Pink Lemonade.
  3. Add ½ cup ginger beer and ¼ cup Limeaid, and squeeze in some fresh lime wedges.
  4. Mix thoroughly and top with ice.

Olala Gin(less) and Tonic (2.5mg THC per 8 oz drink)
This mocktail is a little more involved, but the ingredients can be easily tailored to match your tastes.

*Some ingredients in this mocktail will need to be prepared 12-24 hours in advance.

  • 10mg Bottle Olala Lime Sparkling Water – 4 servings per bottle ($6)
  • Tonic Water (Fever-Tree and Q seem to be bartender favorites)
  • Scrappy’s Aromatic Bitters (optional)
  • Unflavored Polar Water – or whatever you have on hand, but Polar is SUPER bubbly
  • Lime wedges
  • Traditional Gin Aromatics: (available online or in your local herb store) You won’t need huge quantities of these herbs, so if you’re buying in bulk, 0.25 oz will do: juniper berries, coriander seed, angelica root, lemon and lime zest
**ALTERNATIVELY, you can use herbs that are easier for you to access. Citrus zest, rosemary, lavender, rose petals, and mint would all be good options

How to do it part one: 12-24 hours in advance of your cocktail party:

Make the Gin(less) concentrate:

  1. In a small bowl, mix together your aromatics. Start with small equal amounts of herbs (about a half tbsp) and smell as you go, adding additional ingredients as desired. If using the gin blend, you only need about a half tbsp of each herb, and 1-3 juniper berries, depending on your level of love for juniper berries. Give ‘em a squish, so they can release their goodness. If using your own herbal melange, blend to your desired preference, and muddle with the handle of a wooden spoon for peak flavor release.
  2. Open one of your Polar Waters. Pour out about a half cup to make room for your herbs and then add them into the bottle. Cap it very tightly, and stick it in your fridge for 12 hours. Pour a little out to taste after 12 hours to gauge its flavor. If it is not strong enough, re-cap (tightly) and stash back in the fridge for another 12 hours. Aim for a stronger flavor profile, as your gin(less) will be diluted with the Olala lime sparkling water.
  3. Once you’re satisfied with your flavor, remove your gin(less) from the fridge, and gently pour through a strainer to remove the herbs.

How to do it part two: Preparing the cocktail when it’s time to party:

  1. Over ice, add ½ cup of Gin(less) and ¼ cup tonic water.
  2. Top with ¼ cup Olala sparkling lime water and a couple of dashes of Scrappy’s Aromatic Bitters.
  3. Squeeze in some lime wedges and mix thoroughly.

Happy Apple-Jack (about 5mg THC per 6 oz drink)
Peach nectar, vanilla, and apple cider vinegar combine with the sweet flavor of Happy Apple to create a flavor profile reminiscent of an Applejack Old Fashioned.

  • 50mg Happy Apple – 10 servings per bottle ($22)
  • Kern’s Peach Nectar
  • Apple Cider Vinegar
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Scrappy’s Orange Bitters
  • Orange

How to do it:

  1. In a glass, mix together 2 ½ tbsp Happy Apple, 1/2 cup Peach Nectar, and 2 tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar.
  2. Add in a 1 tsp of vanilla extract and a generous dash of orange bitters.
  3. Top with ice and a large curl of orange peel.

Major Tropical Sunrise Shots (about 5mg THC per 1oz drink)
Surprise your guests with this simple shot that will make their tastebuds pop! A very cost-efficient cannabis mocktail if you are hosting many people.

  3. To serve, fill a shot glass with 1oz of the juice mixture and top with Pomegranate Juice.

How to do it:

  1. Get ready for simplicity: crack open your chilled seltzer water and take a drink to make room.
  2. Add ½ dropper full of Green Revolution’s Journey tincture to your seltzer water and swirl gently.
  3. Optional: If you like, add a squeeze of a citrus wedge and your favorite can coozy!

Budtender’s Buddy (about 12.5mg CBD per 12oz drink)
