What you’ll need:

  • Spray bottle (2oz or 4oz size recommended)
  • Water: preferably water that has been filtered, distilled, bottled, or boiled and cooled works best
  • Essential oils
  • Optional: Vodka or if you’re going the non-alcoholic route: vanilla extract (to extend shelf life)

Directions:

  1. Add your essential oils to your clean spray bottle using one of the recipes below. Start by using the directed amounts of drops listed. You can add more oils at the end if the scent isn’t strong enough for you.
  2. If you’d like to add vodka or substitute vanilla extract as a preservative, do so now. The rule of thumb is 1 tablespoon per 4 oz of finished product. Ex: if you’re filling a 2oz bottle, add ½ tbsp of vodka or vanilla extract.
  3. Add water to the mix until it reaches the shoulder of the bottle, then cap and shake thoroughly. Give your room spray a test spritz to make sure you are happy with the “volume” of aroma.
  4. If you want a more aromatic spray, add a bit more essential oil to the bottle until you achieve your desired results.
  5. To use: shake vigorously, then spritz liberally.

Essential Oil Blends: the recipes below are intended to help cover cannabis smells and work best in a 2oz bottle. If you want your spray to be less aromatic, halve the recipe, or use a 4oz bottle.

Other tips:

  • If you don’t want to collect individual essential oils, you can also purchase them pre-blended. Uncle Harry’s is a local vendor that offers lovely essential oil blends. And if you’re looking to buy spray bottles along with your oils try local spot Zenith Supplies. You can also find other options on Etsy and Amazon
  • If you have a favorite perfume, you can add that to your spray instead of essential oils
  • When shopping for essential oils, try to avoid “aromatic oils” as they are made with synthetic ingredients and can cause headaches
  • Don’t want to make your own? Try other natural room sprays formulated to cover cannabis smells such as Veil or Cannabolish
